Holden, Christian

Dr Christian Holden

Successfully obtained his PhD degree at the Department of Engineering Cybernetics (Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering) on June 20.

His thesis is entitled “Modeling and Control of Parametric Roll Resonance”. The trial lecture and defence were on the topic “L1 Adaptive Control of Aerial Vehicles”.
Obtaining his degree also involved a ritual where he was knighted as a member of the “Golden Feedback Loop” by his main supervisor Professor Thor I. Fossen. Christian will be continuing at CeSOS as a researcher on a project entitled "Parametric Resonance in Dynamical Systems".

Dr Limin Yang

Obtained his degree on May 26 after successfully giving his trial lecture entitled "Design Principles for Floating Wind Turbines".

His thesis is entitled: "Stochastic Dynamic System Analysis of Wave Energy Converter with Hydraulic Power Take-Off, with Particular Reference to Wear Damage Analysis".

Limin Yang is the first PhD candidate at CeSOS to give his trial lecture and defence live via webcamera to the committee. Several flights were cancelled due to the eruption of the volcano Grimsvotn on Iceland, so committee members Professor Antonio Falcao (Lisbon) and Dr. Anthony Lewis (Cork) were unable to come to Trondheim. The event was mentioned in the local newspaper Adressa.
